
Tobacco Use
TOBACCO USE
In accordance with KSA 21-3105 and in the interest of the public health, the use of all tobacco products, including smokeless tobacco, is prohibited on the Pratt Community College campus—both inside/outside of buildings and all campus properties.
SANCTIONS
1. Students found violating this policy, to include possessing evidence of recent use (examples: containers with cigarette ash and smokeless tobacco residue, capped or uncapped containers, etc.), will be subject to the following sanctions:
• First offense – Mandatory enrollment in college sponsored, one credit smoking/tobacco cessation course at the student’s expense or $200 fine. (Scholarship will not apply)
• Second or subsequent offense - $250 fine
2. Employees found violating this policy will be subject to disciplinary action as follows:
• First offense – Letter of reprimand and mandatory enrollment in college sponsored, one credit smoking/tobacco cessation course at the employee’s expense. Tuition remission will not apply.
• Second offense – Three-day suspension without pay
• Third Offense – Termination of employment.
X This policy replaces policy dated Apr-25-2007, Oct-03-2006, July 25, 2006, Jan. 2, 2008.
