Men's Soccer Falls 3-1 to Allen

The PCC Men’s Soccer team lost 3-1 to Allen County in what was a tightly contested match at the Haviland pitch on Tuesday. Pratt actually outshot Allen 6 to 5, but came away with only one score, a header by Mitch Kavanagh.
 
Pratt will have a chance to regroup against Western Nebraska on Saturday at 5:00pm on the Haviland pitch.

PTK hosts Blood Drive

Phi Theta Kappa will be sponsoring a blood drive through the American Red Cross on Tuesday, September 14, 2010.

Women’s Soccer Falls to Cloud and Hesston

The Lady Beavers Soccer Team held their own in two matches this week, falling 0-1 to a highly regarded Cloud County squad on Thurday, and then to Hesston 2-3 on Saturday. After jumping to a 2-0 start this season, Pratt now stands at 2-2 overall and 1-1 in conference play.
 

Men's Soccer Opens with Win over Indy

The Pratt Community College Men’s Soccer Team opened their 2010 campaign with a hard fought 1-0 win against Independence Community College on Friday. Callum Charlton scored the winning goal just before the halftime whistle. Pratt had several other excellent scoring opportunities in the second half, but could not capitalize on any of them.

Volleyball Goes 2-2 in Opening Tournament

It was a somewhat auspicious beginning for the 2010 Beaver volleyball squad, as the freshman laden team went 2-2 over the weekend in Lamar, Colorado. Pratt defeated Clarendon (TX) and Sheridan (WY), but lost to #21 Laramie County (WY) and Western Wyoming.

An In Depth View of Journalism

The Pratt American student newspaper offers many opportunities for students exploring a career in Journalism.  PCC focuses on cross-training journalism students to make them more marketable as they enter into the workplace or as  go on to attend a four-year college or university.  Cross-training gives students the training needed to write, edit, design, take photos, etc. 
Students majoring in Journalism at PCC  take courses that make them more diverse.  Students gain experience in advertising, public relations, writing radio and broadcast scripts, using video equipment to prepare broadcast stories, scheduling on camera interviews as well as using  editing equipment and software to perfect their broadcast stories. 
It is our goal at PCC to train and introduce students to all forms of media so they can make an educated decision on what area of media they would like to pursue further either in the workplace or at another institution. 
The PCC Journalism Department is growing and we hope that you make the choice to grow with us.  I’ll keep you posted as we continue to progress through the year.
