PCC Hires Kewley for New Men’s Soccer Program
Pratt Community College has hired former professional soccer player and coach Kevin Kewley to inaugurate the Men’s Soccer Team in the fall of 2010. Kewley will assume full responsibilities immediately.
Kewley began his professional playing career in 1972 with Liverpool in the English Premier League. In 1976, he transferred to the Dallas Tornado, where he played until 1980. From Dallas, Kewley moved to the Wichita Wings, where he was the team captain until he retired from playing in 1990.
Kewley went on to become the head coach of the Wichita Wings from 1998 to 2001. He has continued to coach club soccer in Wichita and is a well known figure in Kansas club soccer.
“I’m really excited to be joining the coaching staff at PCC,” said Kewley. “It just felt right on my visit there. I’m looking forward to not only building a successful soccer program at PCC, but also to expanding soccer opportunities in the Pratt community.”
“This is a tremendous hire for us,” said Athletic Director Kurt McAfee. “Kevin’s wealth of experience as a player and a coach, as well as his reputation in the state, will serve our school and our community well. Kevin will allow us to hit the ground running as we bring soccer to our Pratt community."
