Art Instructors’ work is on display at Delmer Riney Art Gallery
Now showing in the Delmar Riney Art Gallery at Pratt Community College is the work of art faculty members Valarie Dellrocco and Marsha Shrack. The exhibit can be seen from Nov.10th through Dec. 7 during regular business hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., or by appointment. The exhibit can also be seen before and after the PCC production of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol on November 20 and 21 and at the PCC Christmas concert on December 7.
Shrack is exhibiting a collection of primarily functional stoneware ceramics. The exhibit reflects not only her artistic interests but also her interests in gardening and cooking. Shrack enjoys making well designed utilitarian objects, especially those used in cooking and serving. Many of the designs use organic shapes and surface textures from the garden and nature. She also has samples of unique firing processes such as wood fired, pit fired, saggar fired and horse hair fired pieces. Many of the pieces in the exhibit are for sale. Shrack teaches Ceramics, Pottery, Drawing, Art Appreciation and Elementary School Art classes at PCC.
Dellrocco, PCC Graphic Design and Photography instructor is exhibiting photography and typography. Dellrocco’s photographs demonstrate the principle she teaches her photography students. “Envision the picture from a variety of interesting angles” says Dellrocco, “kneel down, step up, move left and right looking for the interesting perspectives”. Her work is a collection of unique camera angles using a variety of subject matter. Also on exhibit is a collection of favorite quotes regarding art and creativity which use the words as design elements and turns them into unique typographical designs. Dellrocco previously worked as an Art Director and Graphic Designer in Wichita and Emporia, Kansas.
