An Overview of Academic Advising

Each student is asked to declare an academic major area of study during their first enrollment at PCC. Based on their major, the student is assigned an academic advisor. Most often, that advisor is an instructor within the student's area of study. The advisor is the student's guide to selecting and enrolling in courses and support for staying ontrack. The advisor will refer the student to other college resources as are necessary.
The close personal contact between the advisor and the student is designed to ensure the academic success of the student. It is incumbent upon the student to seek out the advisor for academic guidance.
