Men’s and Women’s BB Playoffs Set for Tuesday at Cowley
Both PCC Basketball teams finished seventh in the Jayhawk West, setting up a first round road game against the Jayhawk East number two seed, Cowley County. Both contests are slated for Tuesday, with the women starting at 5:00 and the men following at 7:00pm. The winner of the women’s game will advance to Wichita State’s Koch Arena on Friday to play the winner of the KCK vs. Garden match-up. The men’s winner will advance to the same venue on Saturday to play the winner of KCK vs. Seward.
Both the men’s and women’s teams failed to win their regular season finale’s on Saturday night. The women lost to Barton 93-63, while the men took Barton to overtime, but could not pick up the win, falling 100-96.
The women finished the regular season 3-13 in conference play and 4-26 overall, though that record includes four early season forfeits due to an ineligible player.
The men finished the regular season 7-9 in the conference and 19-10 overall. The Beavers were on fire early in the year and received recognition in the balloting for national ranking. However, Pratt closed the season with a five game skid that took them from a potential fourth place finish down to seventh.
As everyone knows, it’s now a new season, and the Jayhawk Conference is no stranger to upsets in the playoffs.
