Women’s Basketball Closes Season with Loss to Cowley

Release Date:
Tuesday, March 02, 2010

Like much of the year, the PCC Women’s Basketball Team played a tough first half against Cowley Tuesday night.  In fact, the Beavers led for much of the way, and the game remained a one point contest until just before the halftime buzzer.  In the second half, however, the Tigers were hard to chase, and Pratt fell by a 64-38 margin.

For the first thirteen minutes it looked like a possible upset in the making, as with seven minutes to go in the first half, the teams were still tied at 15.  It took another couple of minutes for Cowley to take their first lead of the game, going on a 7-0 run to close the half leading 25-19.

For the first five minutes of the second half, Pratt hung in there with a four point deficit, but from there Pratt could not keep up on defense, and the shots just weren’t falling.

Pratt’s shooting woes were evident in the fact that Phyllicia Freeman led the Beavers with 22 points, but no other player had more than six.

Pratt finished the season 3-14 and  4-27.  Cowley improved to 13-6 and 20-10, and will move on to play at Koch Arena on Friday.
