Course Prerequisites

Some courses at all accredited colleges and universities have prerequisites - required course or test scores that much be achieved prior to enrollment in course. For instance, Accounting II has a prerequisite of Accounting I and Physical Science has a math prerequisite.

At PCC, all English and math courses, except entry level courses, have required prior course completion or score on a placement test. All courses with prerequisites are noted in the course description. You can look at the course description in Self-Service by clicking on the course number.

This is the prerequisite information for English Composition I.

Prerequisites ACT / English <min score = 18.0000> or ASSET / Writing <min score = 40.0000> or ENG098 / Lecture <min grade = C, min credit = 3.00> or COMP / Writing <min score = 70.0000>

This means that a student needs an ACT score of 18 or higher, an ASSET Writing score of 40 or higher or a COMPASS Writing score of 70 or higher. If the student has completed ENG098 (Basic Writing) with a grade of C they are eligible for the course and do not need a test score.

This is the prerequisite information for Physical Science:

Prerequisites: MTH098 / Lecture <min grade = C, min credit = 3.00>
This means that a students needs to complete
Beginning Algebra with a C prior to enrollment
in Physical Science. There are no test score
prerequisites for this course.
