
Judging Team travels to NACTA Conference
Twelve PCC Ag students and their instructors traveled to El Reno, Oklahoma to compete in the annual North American Colleges & Teachers of Agriculture (NACTA) Judging Conference, April 15, 16 and 17. The conference was hosted by the Redlands Community College Agriculture Department. PCC competed with 23 other community colleges from across the nation.
Team placings were as follows: Quiz Bowl - eighth, Computers - fifth, Soils - ninth, Crops - sixth, Ag Business Management – fifth and Horse Judging -thirteenth. Students competing for PCC included; Nicole Dechant, Remington Smith, Chelsea Wilson, Travis Panek, Jennifer Burns, Jake Renner, Angela Duncan, James Leddy, Kurtis Niehage, Joanna Gillen, Ryan Strait and Audrey Smith. Lori Montgomery and Dr. Bill Hunter prepared the teams for competition.
The students also participated in educational tours while traveling. Visits were made to Oklahoma State University, Sparks Feedlot Research Center and Equine Production Farm. They also toured Oklahoma City Stockyards, Bricktown, the Oklahoma Ag Expo and Express Ranches at Yukon.
