"Seussical" Performance July 16, 17
Enjoy an evening of Dr. Seuss at Pratt Community College’s production of “Seussical-Theatre for Young Audiences” Friday, July 16 and Saturday, July 17at 7:00 p.m. in PCC’s Carpenter Auditorium.
Based on the works of Dr. Suess, “Seussical—TYA” is a musical with music by Stephen Flaherty, lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, book by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, co-conceived by Lynn Ahrens, Stephen Flaherty, and Eric Idle. The show is designed for the family audience and follows the PCC summer theatre tradition of bringing classic stories to the stage. The majority of the cast are elementary and high school aged performers from the greater Pratt community. The show will run approximately one hour and twenty minutes. “Seussical—TYA” is a collection of Dr. Seuss’s most iconic characters and stories. The Cat in the Hat, Annie Swisher, narrates the stories imagined by JoJo, Emma Twigg. As citizens of Whoville, JoJo and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mayor played by Antonio Neal and Chandra Murray, are at the mercy of the elements on their small speck of dust until they are discovered by Horton the Elephant, Sam Eastes. Horton’s attempt to save the Whos is both helped and hindered by his jungle neighbors: Gertrude McFuzz, Mindi Popovich; Mayzie La Bird, Anna Stotts; the Sour Kangaroos, Janet Horton and Samantha Harrison; and the Wickersham Brothers, Jamie Pugh, Caleb Hitz, and Gabrielle Murray. Whos, hunters, jungle creatures, and fish complete the production including performances by Brooke Fischer, Shiloh Murray, Emily Sprunger, Ellen Larson, Mackailyn Willits, Sarah Anthony, Dani Grey, Breanna Tatro, Hannah Tatro, Mason Brock, Crystal Lukens, Carson Smith, A.J. Arensdorf, Michelle Popovich, J. Jay Popovich, Sidney Harrison, Jonah Anthony, Noah Anthony, Erin Jackson and Bailey Jackson.
