Lady Beaver Soccer Team Nets Historic Win
The Lady Beaver Soccer Team opened their inaugural season with a victory over Independence on Friday afternoon. Pratt defeated their Jayhawk Conference opponent 2-1. Alycia Reed scored the historic first goal for Pratt's women's soccer program, taking a cross from Tanya Morales.
Independence came back in the second half, scoring on a freekick just outside the penalty box. The game needed two overtimes to decide the match. Late in the second overtime Kayci Huslig netted a goal from 30 yards out, giving the Beavers the win.
"I couldn't be more proud of the effort my girls put forth out there," said Head Coach Jerrid Schicke. "There is room for improvement, but I couldn't be happier with the result."
