What Are We Doing to the Oceans?

Gloria Mueller has taken the Layers of Life poster from the National Geographic issue featuring stories of the marine life and the oil spill damage to the environment. The seashells the student is examining is a reminder of the "oil spill affecting every habitat".  The Gulf is in a serious condition - overfishing, extensive wetland loss, oxygen-starved dead zone at the mouth of the Missisippi River.

Jamie King is looking through the collection of books Gloria gathered to emphasize each of the identified problems and the marine life that is affected.  There is an accompanying bibliography with the books and web URL to dig deeper into the subject, ocean.nationalgeographic.com/ocean/iamtheocean
Come by the Library  Sunday 4 PM - 8 PM; Monday-Thursday 8 AM - 10 PM; or Friday 8 AM - 4 PM. Gloria has posted pictures on the endcaps to remind you of the Exxon Valdez oil spill of years gone by and the plight of the wildlife.
