Baseball Moves to 2-0
The Beaver baseball team improved their record to 2-0 on the year with a 5-4 win over the Emporia State JV team on Tuesday in Emporia.
Freshman Jeremy Geist doubled off the left field wall to drive in Skylar Angood in the top of the eighth to put the Beavers ahead 5-3. Sophomore Tony Gonzales (1-0) pitched a scoreless seventh inning in relief to pick up his first win of the season. Sophomore Blake McMullen pitched the last two innings, striking out two batters, to pick up his first save of the season.
The Beaver offense started out hot again, scoring three runs in the first inning for the second game in a row. Ethan Elrod hit his first homerun of the season to spark the Beaver hitters in the first inning. Pratt added a run in the seventh and eighth innings to hold off the Hornets.
