Artist to answer question about display
After having his items displayed in the Delmar Riney Art Gallery during the month of March, Chris Shrack will be on Pratt Community College’s campus March 31 at from 5:30- 7 p.m. for a question and answer session.
Shrack designed this photography exhibit to show the essence of the great American traditions of auctions, garage sales and consignment shops. The images include old equipment, vehicles, household items and people. He used the Adobe Photoshop “poster” art filter in many of the prints to emphasize outlines and simplify colors into shapes, helping the viewer to see the images more graphically and artistically. The serigraph or “silk screened” print look, the irregular sized prints and unconventional mountings serve to emphasize the cluttered, unordered, perhaps even random fashion in which the auction, garage sales or consignment store wares are often displayed.
“This is one of the most unique and creative exhibits I’ve seen in this gallery,” said Marsha Shrack, Gallery Director. “The inclusion of thematic ‘props’ to set the atmosphere makes it lots of fun to view the exhibit. There is a bit of wit and humor involved in each aspect of the exhibit.”
