Hybrid Programs

Hybrid* PN Program (First Year)
Thank you for your interest in the Hybrid* PN Program (Kansas residents only) through Pratt Community College. You may be asking yourself “What is Hybrid*?” The term hybrid in online learning means that up to 1/3 is face-to-face or “live” instruction. Successful completion of this program will allow you to take the NCLEX-PN® and to apply for PN Licensure (LPN). After successful completion of the approximately 30-week PN Program, all students earn a Practical Nurse certificate and are eligible for LPN licensure. Approximately nine (9) additional months qualifies students for an Associate Degree in Nursing and are eligible for RN Licensure.

Think of this as Step 2 in a nursing career:
·         Step 1                   CNA
·         Step 2                   PN
·         Step 3                   ADN Completion

Students in this program will have up to 1/3 of the face to face theory instruction and skills lab at our eLearning Service Center in Wichita.

Although students are admitted into the Hybrid* PN Program in the Spring semester only, the general education classes (or “pre-nursing”) can be taken anytime prior to acceptance into the Nursing Program. Our Nursing admission staff would be happy to assist you in setting up a plan of study. Prior to meeting with your advisor, please have official copies of your high school transcript and college transcripts sent to PCC Nursing Admissions directly from that high school or college. If you received a GED certificate, please have your test scores sent directly from the testing site to Nursing Admissions. Be sure your current name is written on all transcripts to avoid confusion. If you have questions or concerns please review the FAQ section where you will find answers to most questions you have. If you find you have additional questions, contact our Nursing admissions staff at nursinginfo@prattcc.edu.

After successfully completing the PN Program and after obtaining your PN licensure, you then will move on to the ADN Completion Program (second year). Upon seccussful completion of the second year, you will be eligible to take the NCLEX-RN®.

Students must be self-motivated, have excellent computer skills, current e-mail and reliable internet service.

Each student will be required to complete clinical hours. These clinicals will be under the direction of a clinical instructor, and may be in a variety of facilities within the state of Kansas. The clinical dates and times are variable and dependent upon approval of the clinical facilities. A draft of the clinical dates will be provided at the beginning of the program, but may change due to facility availability.

Hybrid* ADN Completion Program (Second Year)

This includes Paramedics who wish to pursue their ADN degree.

Thank you for inquiring about the PCC Hybrid* ADN Program. The second year of the Hybrid* ADN Program is not limited to Kansas residents only. PCC is proud that we were the first state-wide LPN-RN online option in Kansas, and we are currently the largest nursing program in the state. Successful completion of this program will allow you to take the NCLEX-RN® and to apply for RN licensure.

The PCC Nursing Program has a long-standing tradition of producing high-quality nurses prepared to enter the workforce. Employers consistently rate PCC nursing graduates above average to excellent. Although the format may differ somewhat, the same quality-proven curriculum is delivered online and has been approved by the Kansas State Board of Nursing.

Prior to entering the first course (NUR204), you will be required to take NUR201, Nursing Transition. This course will assist you as you transition for the LPN to RN role and includes both online and on-campus instruction. PCC nursing instructors recommend you take the "Is Online Learning for Me" questionnaire prior to making your decision to enter the PCC Nursing Program. If you have questions or concerns specific to online learning, you are encouraged to visit with our Director of Online Nursing Programs, Ann McShane, at annm@prattcc.edu.
