EPT department gets new equipment through grant
Knowing that the old equipment was getting old and needed replaced, Pratt Community College spent part of this years’ grant money on a new trencher/backhoe/blade for the Electrical Power Technology department.
Every year the school receives the State Vocational Capital Outlay Grant, which is funded through the Kansas Board of Regents.
With the grant money, the EPT department went through a bidding process and was able to buy a previously owned reconditioned Ditch Witch trencher/backhoe/blade.
“It will look good when students are ready to join the work force for them to know how to use one of these and now how to do it safely,” said Dave Campbell, EPT Program Coordinator and Instructor.
Campbell said the department had an old one, which went to PCC’s EPT department on at the Coffeyville Community College campus, since they didn’t have one for students to use.
The students can practice with the equipment in the back of the training yard, where there are no wires or anything under ground.
