Release Date:
Friday, October 21, 2011

The Lady Beavers traveled to Dodge City Thurs., Oct. 20 for a KJCCC match-up with the Conquistadors.

The Lady Beavers started out strong in set one with a convincing 25 – 19 victory.  In set two however, the home team came back and with some unforced errors took the set 25 – 22.  Set three was a different story, as the Lady Beavers jumped out to a 9 – 2 lead and then held on for a 25 – 23 victory.

In set four, the home team, the Conquistadors, came out strong, and the Lady Beavers caught up and with the score 24 – 23 in favor of the Beavers it looked like it would be a short night.  However two unforced errors gave the Conquistadors the victory at 26 – 24 sending it to a fifth set, just like the first matchup. However, the Lady Beavers were unable to even get started as the home town Conquistadors took control and then ended with a barrage to send the Lady Beavers home  with a 15 – 1 loss and  a 3 – 2 match for the home team.

The Lady Beavers were led on offense by Sara Aliosio with 16 kills, Hannah Melichar with 10 kills, Kylie Pywell with nine and Bailey Rush with her third double-double of 12 kills and 14 digs.  Along with her 14 digs, were Libero Tori Provencio with 20 digs Elisa Seumanu with 18, Tayler Frederiksen with nine and freshman DS Maci Grimes with eight digs.  Leah McPherson added seven and Hannah Melichar had five.  A total of 88 digs for the Lady Beavers and 44 kills for the match.

This sends the Lady Beavers conference record to 5 – 8 and 10 – 19 overall.

The Lady Beavers will finish the regular season Wed., Oct 26 at home against Colby Community College for sophomore night and the end to our Breast Cancer Awareness month’s activities.  The match will begin at 6:30 p.m. with sophomore night ceremonies being held between sets two and three.
