Beavers fall to #11 ranked Cloud
Pratt Community College’s Men’s Soccer season came to a screeching halt Tues., Oct. 25, with a 3-0 loss to #11 ranked Cloud County Community College. The Beavers played a tough first half against the strong wind, but both teams had chances to score.
Charlie Samsushonga rescued the Beavers with some fine goalkeeping, but the half ended 0-0. In the second half, and with the Beavers playing with the wind at their backs, Pratt looked to pressure Cloud. However, Cloud got the vital breakthrough after 70 minutes, with a goal from close range to take the 1-0 lead. The Beavers pushed forward looking for the equalizer, and were made to pay as Cloud scored two goals in the final five minutes to end the contest 3-0.
Coach Kevin Kewley said this was a fantastic display from the Pratt CC soccer team, and they can really be proud of the way the have preformed this season.
“Everyone has played their part in laying the foundation for Pratt soccer, but a special thanks goes out to: Charlie Samshonga, Mitch Kavanagh, David Coulter, Gary Rafferty, Conner Rockett, Jon Henderson, Sean Fiscus, Andrew Johnson, Rayce Mahlandt and Juan Ornelas. All these guys have played a major part in the success of Pratt soccer, and will never be forgotten,” said Kewley.
