On sophomore night, Oct. 16, at the Dennis Lesh Sports Arena, the Lady Beavers gave the Colby Trojans, the #2 team in the KJCCC, all they could handle.

With the first set over at 25 – 20 in favor of the visiting Trojans, sets two and three were much more closely contested. The second set went to 27-25 in favor of Colby and number three went to 26-24 in their favor also.

The evening was capped off with an awards ceremony for the five graduating sophomores which featured flowers, pictures and action shots of each player along with recognition of their contributions to the Lady Beaver Volleyball Program.  They were accompanied by their parents and/or sponsor families.

The Lady Beavers were led by Bailey Rush’s third double-double of the season, 10 kills and 20 digs.  Along with her 10 kills were:  Melichar with 12, Aloisio with 11 and Pywell with 12 kills and 0 errors.  On defense Tori Provencio, sophomore Libero, had 20 digs and several tremendous defensive plays at crucial times to keep the Lady Beavers in each game.

The Lady Beavers KJCCC record falls to 5 – 9 and overall record is 10 – 20.  The Lady Beavers will next play on the road against an undetermined KJCCC opponent on Tues., Nov. 1.  If the Lady Beavers are successful in that match they will move to the final four, double elimination tournament at Newman University in Wichita starting on Sat., Nov. 5 at 12 p.m.
