On Tues., Nov. 1, during the first round of the regional playoffs, the Lady Beaver’s volleyball season came to an end at Seward County Community College.  The Lady Beavers played valiantly, but came up short in set one after making an eight point run only to see the home team win at the end.

In set two, the Lady Beavers came out firing and made another five point run to take the lead at 23 – 22, but once again some timely shots helped to send the home team to the victory at 27 – 25.

Set three was marked by near misses on shots for the Lady Beavers and a defense that could hold on but without the offense scoring led to a 25 – 14 defeat for the Lady Beavers.

The Lady Beavers were led once again by Bailey Rush’s fourth double-double a 11 kill 10 dig night, Tori Provencio led the defensive effort with her usual fine performance and 18 digs and was helped by Tayler Frederiksen’s 10 digs.  On offense freshman Kylee Pywell continued to shine with eight kills and only two errors.

“The freshman have shown that they will provide a fine nucleus to build on and with some big hitters around them,” said Brian Dickens, head coach. “The Lady Beavers will be a force to contend with next season.”

The Lady Beavers season comes to an end with an overall record of 10 – 21 and 12 of those losses coming with sets that were decided by three or less points. Seward County Community College will move on to Newman University where they will face Colby Community College in the second match on Sat., Nov. 5.
