ADN Completion Program for PN and Paramedic
Thank you for your interest in the Pratt Community College Hybrid PN and Paramedic Completion program. This program is for both PN’s and Paramedics who wish to complete their ADN. You may be asking yourself “What is Hybrid?” The term hybrid in online learning means that at least 2/3 is online and up to 1/3 can be face-to-face or “live” instruction. Currently 100% of the theory is online, while the face-to-face portion is lab and clinical time. Successful completion of this program will allow you to take the NCLEX-RN® and to apply for RN licensure.
The PCC Nursing Program has a long-standing tradition of producing high-quality nurses prepared to enter the workforce. Employers consistently rate PCC nursing graduates above average to excellent. Although the format may differ somewhat, the same quality-proven curriculum is delivered online and has been approved by the Kansas State Board of Nursing and the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.
Prior to entering the first course (NUR 204), you will be required to take NUR 201, Nursing Transition: Paramedic to RN course. This course will assist you as you transition to the RN role and includes both online and on campus instruction. I recommend you take the “Is Online Learning for Me” questionnaire prior to making your decision to enter any online program. If you have questions or concerns, please review the FAQ section where you will find answers to most questions you have. If you find you have additional questions, contact our Nursing admissions staff at nursinginfo@prattcc.edu.”
Each student will be required to complete clinical hours. These clinicals are under the direction of a clinical instructor, and may be in a variety of facilities within the state of Kansas. The clinical dates and times are variable and dependent upon approval of the clinical facilities. A draft of the clinical dates will be provided at the beginning of the program, but may change due to facility availability.
Managing the program, along with work and family can be done, but you must have excellent time management skills and be self-disciplined. Allow for adequate student time. Students should plan on at least 30 hours a week for study time.
This is not a self-paced program. Although, you do have the choice of when you study, each course contains rigorous deadlines.
For our program paramedics must have graduated from a Council of Accreditation of Allied Health Education Program (CAAHEP) accredited program based on the National Standard EMT-P Curriculumn or a Kansas approved program. You will be required to have an active license.
The admission checklist applies to this program as well.
