Business classes offered to work in office setting
Pratt Community College’s business department has a diverse program that traditional students and as well as those wanting to go back to school will find helpful once they get into the workforce.
“This is a great program for anyone wanting to work in an office setting,” said Carol Ricke, business instructor.
Ricke went on to say that people going into this program will learn basic computer skills, math, writing and communication skills, which will all help them get a job in the workplace.
Majors offered in the PCC business department include accounting and business administration. People wishing to go into business administration can either get a two year degree in it and then transfer on to a four year school or can go to school for two years and then join the workforce. Students wanting to join the workforce after two years aren’t required to take college algebra or speech.
Ricke said the courses would also be helpful to anyone currently working in an office setting, who wants to update their skills. Courses on PCC’s campus teach students to use Office 2010 and Windows 7, which are two programs that Ricke said people may not have used yet.
Along with teaching computer software, students also learn webpage design in the program and take accounting courses. These courses and more will be offered to students interested in starting the program, or interested in updating their skills, this spring.
