Men’s Basketball goes 1-1 to start new year

Release Date:
Thursday, January 12, 2012

The Beaver Men’s Basketball team has played two games in 2012. The first came Tues., Jan. 3 against the McPherson College JV. PCC beat McPherson JV’s 89-72.

Saturday we traveled to Concordia for our first conference action against the Cloud County Thunderbirds. We came out swinging and led 35-23 at one point in the first half, but allowed the T-Birds to chew a little of that up before we went to intermission 35-28. The second half was a back and forth affair, with Cloud first cutting a little more into our lead, but then we countered to stretch it back to 9 with around 11 minutes left. From that point on turnovers, poor shots and fouls would doom us, along with defensive breakdowns, and we surrendered the lead around the 5 minute mark never to regain it. Armani Brown had a 3-pt shot in the last ten seconds that would have tied the game, but it fell short along with the final score of 72-75, and the Beavers packed up to head back to Pratt 0-1 in conference and 9-6 overall.
