Women's Basketball Falls to Butler 56-62
The Lady Beavers were on the road again Sat., Jan. 21, this time in Eldorado to take on Butler County Community College. Pratt started out slow in the first half and got down by as many as 12 points before the media time-out. After some adjustments and settling in late in the first half the ladies made a run at the Grizzlies and had the lead cut to seven before giving up a 3-pointer in the corner as the first half buzzer went off.
The second half the Beavers locked in defensively and made it hard for Butler to find anything offensively holding them to six points in the first 10 minutes of the second stanza. Ann Pauly got hot from deep for Pratt hitting four-second half threes and drawing the Beavers tied with only three minutes to go. Pratt couldn’t find a way to push ahead from there though. The difference in the game was Butler’s domination on the glass collecting 22 offensive rebounds on the night. It stood out late as the Beavers got the stop they needed with under a minute to go but couldn’t find the rebound and were forced to foul from that point on. Pratt fell 56-62.
Next up is #3 in the country the Hutchinson Community College Blue Dragons at Dennis Lesh Sports Arena, Wed., Jan. 25.
