The Pratt Community College Performing Arts Department were the guests of the Wichita Grand Opera for the Feb. 4 performance of “Il Travatore”.
The show is sung in Italian with a sub title screen.

“The students were literally in awe,” said Misty Beck, performing arts instructor.

The group was given a backstage tour by President and CEO of the WGO Parvan Bakardiev and enjoyed Orchestra seats for the four act performance of one of Verdi’s most famous operas.

While backstage, the students went through the makeup rooms, were introduced them to cast members, explained how the stage crew were union workers, went on stage and through the set design shops.

Following the production, the students attended a cast and sponsor reception in downtown Wichita where they met several of the cast members and visited with opera staff.
