The Pratt Community College Rodeo Team arrived home from the ninth college rodeo of the season.
The team competed at Fort Hays State University April 20 through 22.

“We had a little tough luck with bad draws in the timed events, but contender Tanya Steinhoff held it together and made the short round in the barrel racing,” said Ryan Vander Pluym, head men’s coach.

Steinhoff, of Vinita, Okla., placed second in the long round, fifth in the short round and third in the average overall.

Mitchell Gardner, of Dover, Okla., had a taste of bad luck and didn’t have the chance to catch his steer in the steer wrestling.

Steinhoff and Gardner are both in contention for a College National Finals qualification.   Vander Pluym said to secure a CNFR birth, Gardner and Steinhoff need to have a good final rodeo this weekend in Guymon, Okla.

Oklahoma Panhandle State University will host this final rodeo April 26 through 28.
