Two Electrical Power Technology students were recognized for their hard work in the classroom on April 27, when they were each given a $1,000 scholarship.

Logan Mattheyer, of Ellis, and Cole Spears, of Dorrance, who were both freshman, received the scholarships from ITC of Great Plains, who is a dependant high voltage electrical company.

“We are excited to be able to give this scholarship to students that we could possibly be working with on projects in the future,” said Carl Huslig, president of ITC. “These kids are learning skills that will still be of use to our company in the next 20-30 years.”

The students have internships for the summer, where they will be documenting their hours and work and then will return to PCC in the fall for their second year of training. Both students plan to graduate in the spring of 2013.

Dave Campbell, head of the EPT program said he nominated the two students for the scholarship.
“Both students are very aggressive and motivated,” he said. “We like to award that and they do very well in the classroom and train hard.”
