Learning Resource Center receives $200 grant
The Learning Resource Center on Pratt Community College’s campus conducted a survey to find out what students wanted in the library and found that having more comfortable furniture was the number one request.
Employees of the LRC than applied for a grant from the South Central Community Foundation and received $200.
“The LRC is very appreciative of the support from the SCCF,” said Dr. Pam Dietz, Director Learning Resources Center. “We have more than 100 people in the library a day and we needed more furniture to accommodate them comfortably.”
Dietz said when they polled the students they asked for bean-bag chairs that they could kick back and relax in while utilizing the free Wi-Fi on campus.
With the grant, they were able to purchase two bean-bag chairs.
“It is exciting to see such great work being done in our communities through the SCCF grants,” said Angela Runnion, Executive Director of the SCCF.
The library will be operating on summer hours May 29 through Aug. 3 and be open Monday through Thursday from 7:45 a.m. 5:15 p.m. and open Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The library is open to the public.
