McAfee awarded the Bryce Roderick Award of Excellence
Athletic Director Kurt McAfee was awarded the Bryce Roderick Award of Excellence for Region VI during a NJCAA Region VI and Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference in May at Hutchinson Community College.
The award is based on maintaining high quality athletic programs and the dedication and contribution of time and effort in regular and championship events of the NJCAA Region VI.
"I was totally shocked," McAfee said. "I didn't even know that I won because I was on the nominating committee and they did this behind my back.
McAfee was nominated for the award by Randy Stange NJCAA Region VI Men's Director and Carl Heinrich Region VI Women's Director and then voted on by 20 athletic directors from the region and Jayhawk conference.
McAfee has served as PCC athletic director since June 2006.
The Bryce R0derick Award of Excellence was established in 2007 in honor of long time conference AD and National Junior Athletic Association officer Bryce Roderick. The award is given annually to the Kansas Jayhawk College Conference (KJCCC ) Athletic Director of the year as voted on by the conference Athletic Directors. The criteria is based on service to the conference. Kurt McAfee of Pratt Community College is this year's recipient of the Bryce Roderick Award of Excellence. Kurt serves as the Region VI Women's Assistant Director. McAfee chairs the NJCAA Cross Country Committee as well as serves on the NJCAA Softball and Volleyball National Committees.
