New class starting to help students train for road race
A new class has been started on Pratt Community College’s campus that will help keep freshman from gaining the freshman 15, help community members reach their goals of a healthier life or is just for people who enjoy to run.
The Athletic Conditioning I: Run/Walk class is designed for students to train and successfully be able to complete a road race at the end of the course.
“A lot of people deep down want to finish a road race and I hope this class helps to provide motivation and opportunity to do that,” said Carmen Forest, instructor.
The class will start on Sept. 17 and will meet that day at 2 p.m. After the first class period, the students will meet on an individual basis with Forest on an arranged schedule.
“The overall goal is for students to complete a road race, of their choosing, by the end of the semester,” she said.
Students will have to pay entry fees for the road races they run.
The one hour course is open to students and community members and can be signed up for as late as Sept. 17.
