Untimely injuries lead to loss for Men's Soccer
Pratt, Kan., -- The Men’s Soccer team hosted NW Tech on Tuesday Sept. 4. In a tense first half of soccer, neither team could gain the upper hand until Nik Bohne scored after an assist from Braulio Morales.
NW Tech pressured the Beavers, but Scott Robertson in the nets came up with some big saves. Nik Bohne added another goal for the Beavers with 10 minutes left to play in the half to make the score 2-0, assisted once again by Braulio Morales.
NW Tech pulled a goal back a minute before the half time whistle.
“The second half was an ugly affair with players from both sides receiving yellow cards from the referee,” said Kevin Kewley, Men’s Soccer Coach.
The Beavers added another goal to make it 3-1, after the NW Tech defender deflected the ball into his own goal. An untimely injury with 10 minutes left on the clock to starting goalkeeper Scott Robertson caused for him to leave the field which allowed Dillon Eichelberger to take over in the nets.
NW Tech pressured the Beavers, and within 2 minutes they had the game tied up at 3-3 after defensive blunders in the Beavers defense. Luis Soto was given a chance in goal, which led to another defensive blunder which gave the visitors another goal and the 4-3 victory.
This loss drops the Beavers to 2-2 on the young season.
Next up for the Beavers is a conference game against Hesston on campus today.
