Cross Country Prepares for Emporia State Invitational

After taking a week off from competition the Pratt Community College men and women's cross country team will be back in action Friday evening at the Emporia State Invitational.
 
Freshman Jenny Boroughs and Sophomore Blake Thompson will be the only two runners competing for the Beavers.
 
The Emporia State Cross Country Course is located at the Jones Youth Recreation Park at Lincoln and 24th Street in Emporia, Kansas. The first race will be the women’s 5,000 meter at 5:00 p.m. followed by the men’s 8,000 meter race at 5:30 p.m. 
 
LAST TIME OUT The Beaver’s competed at the Hutchinson Community College Blue Dragon Invitation on Saturday September 15th.
 
“It was a fun and exciting day to compete,” head coach Ryan Turner said. "The course was wet and hilly but our student-athletes enjoyed the experience and ran well given the wet course conditions.”
 
Freshman Jenny Boroughs was the top Pratt finisher placing 8th in the women’s 5,000 meter race. This was Jenny’s first career collegiate top-10 finish.    
 
The men were once again led by sophomore Blake Thompson who placed 19th in the men’s 8,000 meter race.  Thompson 19th place finish carried the Pratt Men’s Cross Country team to a 4th place overall team score.
