Beavers post huge win against Johnson County

Release Date:
Monday, October 15, 2012

The Beavers hosted a powerful Johnson County Community College soccer team on Saturday Oct. 13 at the Beaver Pitch. In a tense first half, playing against a strong wind, neither team could find a breakthrough.

In the second half, with the wind at their backs, the Beavers pressed but continued to struggle to connect in front of goal. Finally 20 minutes in, Nik Bohne got the vital goal after an assist from Eddie Hernandez to give the Beavers a 1-0 lead.

Just minutes later JCCC tied the game at 1-1 after a mistake by the PCC defense.

Both teams had chances to take the lead, and with just two minutes remaining in the game a deep Eddie Hernandez cross was diverted into his own goal by a JCCC defender. Eddie Hernandez was given credit for the goal on the stat sheet.

"The Beavers held on the final couple of minutes to give the good guys a massive 2-1 win," said Coach Kewley.

This victory leaves the Beavers at 8-6 on the season.

Next up is another huge game on Monday Oct. 15 at home, where a win for the Beavers would insure a playoff spot.
