Rodeo team has five advance to short round
The Pratt Community College rodeo had five students make the short round at their home rodeo the weekend of Oct. 12.
Ty Batie of Black Hawk, SD and Cole Owens of Baker City, Ore., made the short round in team roping, Tish Simon of Mankato and Tanya Steinhoff of Vinita, Okla., in barrel racing and Kyle Zeigler of Atwood in bull riding.
After the competition the women are sitting fourth in the region and the men 12.
"They have improved a lot from last year and I have high hopes for them," said Ryan Vander Pluym, head rodeo coach.
The team will travel to Alva, Okla., the first weekend in November to compete and then will be off until the weekend of Feb. 22, when they compete at Kansas State University.
