Race Car Project
The PCC Race Car is a project used as a recruiting tool for future students. Daryl Lucas, Automotive Instructor, had the idea to introduce a race car project for several years. About two and a half years ago, Lucas saw his idea come true and the plan was approved to begin building a race car as a recruiting tool through Special Projects in Welding. The class is offered each semester until completion of the race car.

The car is a 2004 Supergas Mustang built entirely by students in the class. They have done all the machining, built the frame and chassis components, attached the body and will begin painting it in the near future with guidance from the PCC Art Department. About 63 students have worked on the car within the last two and a half years. Much engineering is involved in the development of the race car. Lucas believes that students will gain a lot more knowledge by doing this project than a regular automotive class.
