By:Patrick Hall Monday, 19 November, 2007 The PCC Men's Basketball Team put up some solid numbers last weekend, but did not quite have enough to feel good about their trip to Seward County Classic in Liberal. On Friday, the Beavers lost to Clarendon 115-100, and on Saturday, they dropped their match against Trinidad State, 71-65. On Friday, the Beavers shot a steady 40 percent, but Clarendon was advancing at a 46 percent clip. In a game that was essentially a shooting gallery, Pratt held their own in rebounds, but struggled with 31 turnovers, 16 of which were steals. As would be expected of a game in the hundreds, Pratt had five players in double figure scoring. Carlen Whitten led the parade with 24, and a double/double with 10 rebounds. Brett Crittenden had a breakout night with 5 threes and 18 total points. Brandel Jones added 13, followed by Alex Rivas' 11 and Jordan Hammond's 10. Rivas also collected 15 rebounds. On Saturday, Rivas continued his dominance on the boards with 17 grabs, and he again scored 11 points. Hammond had the hot hand on 8 of 18 from the field for 24 points. Whitten put in 13. Pratt significantly cut their turnovers, but they still shot only 40 percent to Trinidad's 44. Pratt travels to Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa on Wednesday for an 8:00 game.
