Cross Country Opens Season

By:Patrick Hall Friday, 31 August, 2007

The Pratt Community College Cross Country team is set to open the season this Friday at the Friends Invitational at Lake Afton in Goddard, Kansas. The Beavers are coming into the season with several new faces, the most notable being the head coach, Cyrus Hall, who takes over for Ben Sigle. While the Beavers do return two sophomores, Coe Hawkins and Joel Wallace, both men’s and women’s squads are very thin numbers wise. Logan Keiswetter and Emerardo Suarez round out the boys’ team, and Janet Suarez is the lone member of the girls’ team.

A total of four boys and one girl means the Beavers won’t compete for a Jayhawk Conference Championship this year, but Coach Hall likes what he’s seen so far out of his group. Says Hall, “The quantity of our team isn’t near where we’d like it to be, but I think the kids we do have running will be quality runners. They have worked extremely hard so far. Coe and Emi have a real chance to make some noise for the men’s team this year.”
