By:Patrick Hall Tuesday, 13 March, 2007 Colby Community College came into Stanion Field on Saturday and left with two wins, giving up only three hits and one run on the day. In game one, Joel Lockhart was the tough luck loser again, giving up just a single run in the top of the seventh to run his record to 1-2 despite posting a 1.08 ERA through three starts. On the day, Lockhart allowed five hits over six plus innings, striking out nine while walking just one. Lockhart was lifted in the top of the seventh after allowing a walk and a single to start the inning. Chris Brown relieved him and immediately forced a routine double play ball that wasn’t handled properly and the Beavers were only able to get one out. Following a strikeout, which would have ended the inning, Grant Gehring hit a soft single to left to make the score 1-0 which would stand as the final score. The Beavers squandered its best opportunity to score in the first inning. Kyle Denton led off the game with a walk. Joe Walton followed with a successful sacrifice bunt, however, Denton was caught straying too far away from second base for the second out of the inning. The very next batter, Nick Shoptaw, doubled down the left field line, which would have put the Beavers on the board early. Instead, Shoptaw was stranded at second base and Pratt would only manage one more Walton single the rest of the way off of Colby starter Dan April. In the second game, Josh Turner picked up where April left off, allowing only one Matt Lowry single over six innings. Lowry came around to score on a Trevor Walton groundout, as the Beavers fell 6-1. Pratt has little time to regroup as they leave on Wednesday for their spring break trip. Their first stop is Tyler, Texas, where they will take on Midland College (15-5) on Thursday, Tyler Junior College (19-6) on Friday and Howard Junior College (16-6) on Saturday.
