Wednesday, 1 October, 2008 For the second time this week, the PCC Volleyball Team swept a conference opponent in three straight sets. On Monday night it was Colby, and on Wednesday it was Garden City, 25-15, 25-22, 25-10. With the win, the Beavers moved into sole possession of third place in the Jayhawk Conference. Though Pratt was playing without their conference leading outside hitter, Kate Trejos, the team adjusted well to the adversity. Picking up her game a notch, Tatiana Gonzalez collected 21 kills while hitting .500. Juliana Chavez stepped out of her setting role and assumed Kate's outside hitting duties. Chavez produced 10 kills of her own. Also picking up her game, was Ashley Simons, who had 12 kills out of the middle. Heather Williams had a season high 39 assists. The team hit .380 in set one, .450 in set two, and .350 in set three. The defense was led by Gonzalez and Kelsie Ptacek, both of whom had 9 digs. The Beavers play at home again on Monday, October 5th, when they host Dodge City at 6:30 pm.
