MISSION STATEMENT

The Accounting and Business Department of Pratt Community College has a mission of providing students educational experiences and opportunities to meet their diverse and changing needs. The Accounting and Business Department offers courses that enable the student to transfer to a four-year college or university or to prepare for and obtain employment. It also provides continuous training and education, which allows professionals to update their skills and remain competitive in the job market.

 

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  1. Students in required computer class will demonstrate 80% of the computer competencies.
  2. Associate of Science business graduates will successfully transfer to a four-year college or university.
  3. Students completing an Associate of Applied Science degree desiring to enter the world of work will find employment in their field.

Keller receives Boyd Davies Executive-in-Residence award

On Thursday, Feb. 7, Pratt Community College will proudly host Bill Keller, President of Stanion Wholesale Electric Co., Inc. Keller is the recipient of the 25th Annual Boyd Davies Executive-in-Residence, a program that was developed to connect PCC students and Pratt community members with prominent businesspeople in the community.

Business students go on trips to learn about field

 

To help students learn more about their chosen profession, the Business and Accounting department at Pratt Community College takes their students on many trips through the year to places like Cessna, Koch Industries and Grant Thornton in Wichita.

Buck found technology most challenging part of being non-traditional student

“Going to college at 18 is easy, going back at 54 is a lot harder.”
 
Marjorie Buck, of Iuka, went to Pratt Community College from 1967 to 1969 and got an Associate’s degree in business and then came back in 2005 and received her Bachelor’s degree in education through Fort Hays State University, on PCC’s campus.

PCC courses help Goyen succeed

Statistics show that the average person, with or without a college degree, will switch careers an average of seven to 10 times, according to the National Department of Labor.

Deb Goyen is an exception, having been at her job since she graduated college in 1975.
