PCC offers several avenues for students interested in print media, journalism education, public relations, advertising, photography, radio and television broadcasting, desktop publishing, and organizational communications. An Associate of Science or Associate of Arts degree can be obtained in journalism, agricultural journalism or communications. Each degree requires a minimum of 64 credit hours.
PCC works with all six state universities to assure that graduates transfer to state universities with junior status and that general education courses transfer with no loss of credit. In fact, statistics from Kansas universities prove that many students who attend PCC for two years have a higher GPA than students who go directly to a university. Many recent graduates have reported they were more advanced in mass communications courses after transferring to a university due to the education they received at PCC. In fact, many PCC graduates obtain leadership positions their first year at a university on the newspaper or yearbook staff or campus radio or television stations. PCC’s quality of excellence is reflected in its accreditation by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
