Clubs and Organizations

Academic Excellence Challenge Team
Academic Excellence Challenge is a state-wide College Bowl type of competition for Kansas community college students. Each community college is eligible to certify a six-member team for the annual competition series. Scholarships are available for qualifying students.

 

 Athletics
Intercollegiate sports for men include basketball, baseball, wrestling, rodeo, track, golf and cross-country. Women participate in volleyball, basketball, track, softball, cross-country, golf, dance and rodeo. Pratt Community College

 

 

Beaver Media Group
The Pratt Community College Beaver Media Club is affiliated with the Kansas Associated Collegiate Press and its national parent organization, The Associated Collegiate Press. The purpose of the Beaver Media Club is to promote quality journalistic skills and to protect the First Amendment rights of student journalists. Beaver Media Club members are introduced to all phases of news/magazine production. Interviewing skills, deadlines, advertising, etc. are stressed during meetings with speakers. Promoting communications throughout campus is stressed.

  

Block and Bridle
This club is for students with an interest in agriculture. The objectives of the club are to promote student interest and leadership in agriculture, strengthen, improve, and promote the profession of agriculture, and scholarship among students of agriculture. Members attend regional, state, and national Block & Bridle meetings, where they get to meet and share ideas with students from other colleges and universities as well as participate in educational tours around the U.S.

 

Club International
This organization strives to provide social, cultural, and educational support among international students, their PCC peers, faculty, staff and community. The club meets monthly around social events, service projects and educational forums. 

 

Christian Challenge
The purpose of the Christian Challenge is to assist in fulfilling the mission of the church to lead students and others in the academic community to faith in God, to guide them in Christian growth and discipleship, and to involve them in responsible church membership.

 

 

 

 

Music
The music department features several major performing groups: choir, Encore, Vivace, pep band and the Blue Fusion Jazz Band. Public performances are presented each semester with no admission charge for students. Every other year, the Encore group takes a performance trip. The 2007 trip was a cruise to the Bahamas. They performed on the cruise ship and were asked to do an encore performance!

 

 

 

Rodeo Club
The mission of the Rodeo Club of Pratt Community College is to provide students with educational experiences and opportunities to become active leaders on campus and in the Pratt community by demonstrating leadership skills and abilities. The Rodeo club is open to all students with an interest in the sport of rodeo. The objectives of the club are to (1) promote student interest and leadership in rodeo, (2) strengthen, improve and promote the rodeo profession and image, (3) provide service to PCC and the Pratt community by helping maintain the rodeo facilities, and (4) provide support for the annual college rodeo and other rodeo related functions. The rodeo club meets on the first Wednesday evening of every month. A new officer team is elected every year. Annual dues of $15.00 are collected from members. Fundraising events help pay for the cost of jackets for the members.

 


Rotaract

Rotaract is an organization open to all PCC students. It focuses on helping others through service projects while developing personal, professional, and leadership skills in its members. Rotaract also provides students with the opportunity to meet community members, Rotary professionals, and students from other colleges through club collaborations and conferences.


Post Secondary Ag Students (PAS)
The Post Secondary Ag Students involves second level Ag Power Technology students and ag student interested in the NACTA competitions. Both Pratt Community College students and Fort Hays State University at Pratt students are involved with this organization. The teams within PAS have been very successful at the national competitions within the last several years.

Peer Educators
The Peer Educators group is students helping students make more responsible, healthier lifestyle choices. The group is an affiliate of the National BACCHUS network.

Training Club
The Athletic Training Club is an outlet for athletic training students to spend time with their peers addresses issues related to their field. Professional development is also a part of this organization.

Graphic Design Club
The newly formed graphic design club is for students interested in graphic design no matter what their major. The club will take on a variety of community service initiatives related to art, including a Kids’ Art Day for area children.



 

 

 

 

 

 

Kansas Association of Nursing Students – Pratt
The goal and mission of the Pratt-KANS chapter is to assume responsibility for contributing to nursing education in order to : provide for higher quality care, to provide programs representative of fundamental interests and concerns, to aid in the development of the whole person including professional roles and responsibilities for the health care of people in all walks of life, and to contribute to and promote the profession of nursing.

 

 

 

competes in the Jayhawk Conference of the National Junior College Athletic Association and in the mid-plains region of the National Collegiate Rodeo Association. In addition to the Sports Arena that seats 2,500, PCC has one of the finest rodeo facilities in the state, featuring both an indoor and outdoor arena. Stanion Field for baseball seats about 500. The softball team plays & practices at Jerry Angood Field in Pratt Lemon Park, while the Green Valley Golf Course serves as the home course for beaver golfers. In addition to participating on a team, students get involved with the games by supporting their fellow students. These are some of the most memorable moments at PCC.
