On Saturday, the Pratt Community College baseball team traveled to Johnson County to take on the Cavaliers in the first round of the KJCCC Jayhawk Conference playoffs.
The Beavers lost game one 6-5 on a walk off base hit. The game was hard fought and saw three Beaver homeruns. Two came from sophomore Ethan Schlesener and one from freshman Kailen Glover. On the mound, Kane McCarthy dominated for seven innings keeping the number four team in the nation confused. McCarthy delivered one of the best pitching games of the season.
Game 1: Beavers 1 Enid 6 Loss (13-20; conf 6-10)
The Pratt Community College Beavers sent freshman Nathan Roth to the mound to start the day against Northern Oklahoma College - Enid. Big Daddy Roth would only go 4.2 IP striking out one and allowing five runs (two were earned). Following Big Daddy was sophomore Colton Glover (Shreveport, La.) Grandpa, who went 0.2 IP allowing 0 runs. Coming in after Grandpa was Hayden Brauser who continued his solid freshman campaign by going 1.2 IP allowing 0 runs and 0 walks.
After coming off a tough sweep at Hutch, Pratt Community College baseball turned to red shirt freshman Kane McCarthy to turn things around on Tuesday versus Garden City.
McCarthy would continue to play his hot hand going 5.0 innings pitched striking out two, walking one, and allowing only two runs. His masterful pitching gave the Beavers exactly what they needed to be successful. McCarthy would allow the Beaver offense to get things going.
