Pratt Community College announces their hours for the Summer of 2017.

Summer hours begin Monday, May 22, 2017 and will extend through Friday, July 28, 2017. Operating business hours will be  7:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday.

Patton artwork featured in PCC gallery

During September, Pratt Community College’s Delmar Riney Art Gallery will exhibit the works of featured artist John Patton.

Patton has been featured in the Delmar Riney Art Gallery before. This years exhibit features photographic elements mixed with graphic design. Patton's exhibit features an array of subjects from nature and portraits to close-up action images.

Wildlife Photographer Displays Work in Gallery

During September, the Delmar Riney Art Gallery at Pratt Community College will feature the work of Nadia Marji, managing editor of Kansas Wildlife & Parks magazine. In her exhibit, Marji shares bird and wildlife snapshots from her travels across Kansas over the past three years. 

“I believe that photographing wildlife is largely a matter of being hidden in the right place at the right time,” said Marji, who uses skills she has acquired as a hunter to capture her photos. 

Local Photographer Displays Work in Delmar Riney Gallery

During July, Pratt Community College’s Delmar Riney Art Gallery will exhibit the works of featured artist John Patton. 

“Since taking my first photography class at the age of 17, I was hooked on the medium,” said Patton. “At that time there was little to no digital photography. Learning on film was a great benefit to me because I had to take more time to consider composition and camera settings to get the shot right the first time. Those lessons have carried through to this day.”

PCC Displays Work of Kansas Art Guild

During the month of March, the Delmar Riney Art Gallery at Pratt Community College will feature works from the Kansas Art Guild (KAG).

The Friends Community Art Guild was formed in May 1977. The first meetings were held at Friends University with eight members present. Nona Bass, president, had just moved from Anaheim, Calif., to Wichita and was surprised to learn that there was no organization there for its local artists. She felt it was important that artists could meet and share ideas.

February Gallery Displays Work of Neil Goss

During the month of February, the Delmar Riney Art Gallery at Pratt Community College will display the works of Featured Artist Neil Goss. Goss lives in Lawrence, Kan. where he concentrates his work around natural Earth processes while responding to human impacts upon those processes. 
 

Pratt Art Institutions Partner to Form South Central Kansas Artists’ Guild

Locals with a love of art and photography are invited to join the newly formed South Central Kansas Artists’ Guild. This organization is a cooperative of the Pratt Community College Delmar Riney Art Gallery and the Vernon Filley Art Museum. The first meeting will be held on February 11 at 7 p.m. at VFAM and all are welcome.

South Central Kansas Artists’ Guild Meeting

The South Central Kansas Artists’ Guild is a cooperative of the Pratt Community College Delmar Riney Art Gallery and the Vernon Filley Art Museum. The Guild was created for individuals who share a love of the arts and photography and are interested in gathering to learn, engage, promote and share information about the arts and photography. Monthly meetings provide members the opportunity to 1) share their recent art or photography experience, 2) exchange and share on a selected topic, and 3) learn about or from guest artists or photographers.

During the month of January, the Delmar Riney Art Gallery at Pratt Community College features the work of Tiffany Sowa and her students. Sowa is a traveling art instructor and the owner of “You’re Fired Ceramics and Canvas” in Coldwater, Kan. 

Gallery Features Photographer in December

During the month of December, the Delmar Riney Art Gallery at Pratt Community College will display the works of Featured Artist Brian Elkins.

“Photography has been a hobby of mine since graduating from college in 2009,” said Elkins. “I began taking photos just as a way to document my travels for friends and family on social media, however, as I continued with photography, it quickly became a passion of mine. Through the course of the last few years, as I’ve evolved as a photographer, and as my cameras have improved, I’ve been able to teach myself new tricks along the way.”
