Pratt Community College announces their hours for the Summer.

Summer hours begin Monday, May 21 and will extend through Friday, July 27. Operating business hours will be  7:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Friday.

Eighteen students compete at NACTA conference

Agriculture students from all over the country competed against each other in the 2016 North American Colleges and Teachers of Agriculture (NACTA) Judging Competition at the University of Minnesota-Crookston. Eighteen students from PCC competed against other 2-year institutions in areas such as agribusiness, dairy judging, mechanized agriculture and a new events including animals and wildlife this year.

PCC Nursing is improving quality and showing positive results

The Pratt Community College Nursing department is dedicated and moving in the right direction to gain national accreditation from the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). To achieve this accreditation, PCC is continuing to work on student test scores and NCLEX testing. The nursing on-campus facilities have also made some improvements which is giving students hands-on experience in real life situations.

PCC produces highest paid Grads in Kansas for four years straight

According to new data released by the Kansas Board of Regents, Pratt Community College students graduating with an associate’s degree between 2008 and 2013 have a higher annual wage than the average of associate’s degree and bachelor’s degree graduates in that same time from all Kansas public colleges and universities.

Encore! Performing Arts Valentines Day concert

To celebrate the weekend of love, come to the Valentine’s Day concert hosted Pratt Community College’s Encore! on Sunday, Feb. 14 at 2:30 p.m. in Carpenter Auditorium.

The show will feature love songs from a variety of genres featuring solos, duets and ensembles.

There will be a dessert bar at Intermission hosted by Collegiate Farm Bureau for a free will donation.

The concert is a fundraiser for the students’ trip to Tennessee in May so it does have a $5 suggested donation per person.

Wildlife Photographer Displays Work in Gallery

During September, the Delmar Riney Art Gallery at Pratt Community College will feature the work of Nadia Marji, managing editor of Kansas Wildlife & Parks magazine. In her exhibit, Marji shares bird and wildlife snapshots from her travels across Kansas over the past three years. 

“I believe that photographing wildlife is largely a matter of being hidden in the right place at the right time,” said Marji, who uses skills she has acquired as a hunter to capture her photos. 

PCC Welcomes New Admissions Director

On Aug. 24, Pratt Community College welcomed Jackie Mundt as the new Director of Admissions and Recruiting.
 
“Jackie brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our team, having over five years of corporate sales, brand marketing, and customer accountability, forecasting and market analysis,” said Lisa Perez Miller, vice president of students and enrollment management. “We are fortunate to hire someone with Jackie’s credentials and I am confident she will bring many valuable attributes to our team.”
 

College choir open to community, children

Each year, Pratt Community College’s vocal department invites community members and children to join the school's choir. 

“Each year we have a lot of fun with the community,” said J.J. Rupe, director of the PCC and community choir. “I would like to see everyone return from last semester and new faces as well.”

The kids' choir meet every Monday from 4-5 p.m. The group is for boys and girls between the ages of kindergarten and fifth grade who enjoy singing and performing. 

Haskell joins electrical powerline technology faculty

Wanting to teach students what he learned during his 36 years in the field, Jerry Haskell has taken over the Electrical Powerline Technology program in Wichita at Pratt Community College.

Haskell will be teaching high school and college students both classwork and hands-on training at the new Grove Campus, which is located at Wichita Area Technical College.

“I feel like I can benefit the students,” Haskell said. “I’ve been in the business for many years so feel I can teach them things they wouldn’t learn in a book.”
